history
Easingwold Town AFC Senior section was established in 1892 and were founder members of the York and District league. We are one of only three remaining founder clubs and currently run three adult teams. The first team are the highest ranked team in the Easingwold area, playing in the York and District Premier Division. The reserves participate in Reserve League A and the third team play in the Beckett League Division 2. The 2009/10 season was one of the most successful in recent history as both teams won promotion to the top divisions. The third team were founded ahead of the 2012/13 season.
In the mid 90’s the Junior Section was established by Peter Nottage with the aim of providing opportunities for participation in football for local boys and girls in the Easingwold and surrounding area. This aim is being achieved and exceeded by providing structured coaching in a fun environment and through competitive play in local leagues. The club has continued to grow and for the 2024/25 season there will be an amazing 15 junior teams playing in the league, plus an U19 team and an U5 and U6 development group.
In July 2003 the Club were honoured to be recognised as an FA Charter Standard Development Club. We are committed to the ongoing development of our coaches and players and we were delighted when the Club was awarded FA Charter Standard Community Club Status in December 2010 (the highest ranking availabe from The FA).
Mark Mierzwinski had a season at Bull Hill as an U13 amongst other local clubs before joining Nottingham Forest’s Academy. Mark was an apprentice at Halifax Town and had a spell at Doncaster Rovers. It was at Halifax where he came closest to making the break through. As a first year professional Mark was a member of the reserve team squad before injury hampered his career. Mark returned to Bull Hill to play and manage the First Team briefly.
Former Junior Mike Whitwell had four years at Bull Hill before going on to play for Leeds United Reserves. Mike featured for the first team during a preseason game against York City where he also got his name on the scoresheet. Mike was in Leeds United’s Academy for nine years before being released at the end of the 2009/10 season when a second year apprentice. Mike has recently been playing semi professional football.
On 23/3/2013 Tom Platt became the first former club junior to play professional football in the Football League when he came on as a 45th minute substitute in York City’s 2-1 defeat away at Torquay. Tom had three seasons with us from U8 through to U10’s before joining York City.
